Summary of Job Duties:The CLASS Quality Support Specialist is responsible for conducting CLASS observations across Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K classrooms in Scott and Sebastian counties, supporting providers in interpreting their observation results, and connecting them to appropriate professional development or vendor services. The role is critical to ensuring fidelity of the state's Quality Support System and to improving high quality adult-child interactions across the catchment area. Qualifications:

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.

  • Background in early childhood education, child development, or related field.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain CLASS observer certifications (Infant/Toddler & Pre-K).

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with providers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in early childhood education or a related field

  • Experience conducting CLASS observations or supporting early childhood quality initiatives.

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or professional development delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

CLASS Observations (Primary Duty)

  • Conduct CLASS observations across infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms for publicly funded programs in Scott and Sebastian counties.

  • Follow ADE protocols for accurate, reliable observations, scoring, notetaking, and data submission.

  • Maintain certifications and recalibrate annually in alignment with state requirements.

Quality Support & Data Interpretation

  • Help providers interpret their observation results and identify strengths, areas for growth, and potential followup actions.

  • Assist programs in connecting CLASS results with targeted training and professional development offered by statefunded vendors.

  • Review CLASS data trends to help the Team Captain shape coaching opportunities across the catchment area.

Coordination with UAFS School of Education and the Local Lead Team

  • Work with UAFS Early Childhood Education students 20% of the time, providing advising support.

  • Participate in Local Leads team meetings, shared planning, and county-wide outreach efforts.

Provider Capacity-Building & Professional Development

  • Recommend PD experiences aligned to Adult-Child Interactions, HQIM, CLASS, and program-level needs.

  • Serve as a local resource to help programs prepare for observations, strengthen instructional quality, and understand CLASS domains and dimensions.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain a collaborative and professional team environment.

  • Support leadership through timely communication, feedback, and initiative.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate consistent and punctual attendance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of early childhood education, child development, and adult learning principles.

  • Excellent communication, marketing, and outreach skills across print, digital, and interpersonal formats.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, survey tools, and virtual meeting platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and reporting for educational outcomes.

  • Understanding of university operations and grant-related compliance requirements.

Additional Information:

Work Expectations

  • Fulltime twelve-month role aligned with ADE's Local Lead requirements.

  • Some travel within the catchment area and to the Office of Early Childhood required for observations, meetings, and partner coordination.

  • Participation in all ADErequired meetings, trainings, and statewide gatherings.

Work Conditions and Special Dimensions

  • Primarily office-based with occasional local and statewide travel.

  • Extended work hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required.

  • Prolonged use of computers and digital devices; must occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.

  • Subject to criminal and financial background checks.

    Salary Information:

    $50,000-$55,000 per year, based on education, credentials, and experience in early childhood education.
