Summary:

Performs treatments/activities under the direction of a licensed therapist and/or licensed therapy assistant that supports the operations of the rehabilitation department.

Responsibilities:


  • Performs treatment activities under the direction of a licensed therapist or therapy assistant (from here on referred to as "therapist".
    • Demonstrates consistent use of good body mechanics while transferring and transporting patients and equipment.
    • Assists therapist with functional mobility skills. Is familiar with levels of assist.
    • Assists patients with donning and doffing braces for UE, LE, back, and neck while maintaining appropriate precautions.
    • Ambulates with patients. Has a thorough knowledge of total hip and total knee precautions, weight bearing definitions and levels of assist. Is familiar with all types of assistive devices.
    • Assists with treatments as instructed by the therapist to include: Continuous Passive Motion, Cryotherapy, Thermotherapy, and exercise.
    • Setup and maintain splinting supplies.
    • Assists and supervises patients dysphasia program during meals.
  • Reports to the supervising therapist any changes, concerns, and observations pertinent to patient care. Is responsible for asking the supervising therapist questions if more information is needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Prepares and disinfects therapy areas. Disinfects and maintains equipment.
  • Fills out purchase orders as needed to maintain equipment supplies.
  • Assembles equipment and accessories. Responsible for the safety of the therapy equipment. Takes equipment out of service if unsafe. Is responsible for initiating repair of equipment when not in proper working order. Completes maintenance requests. Does monthly safety inspection of department and equipment and initiates correction of problems.
  • Performs clerical support activities such as charge entry and reconciliation, and statistical gathering. Maintains copies of educational material and documentation.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly checks per policy.
  • Performs monthly van check. Orients new staff to van policies and procedures
  • Assists with orientation of new Rehab Assistant tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assists patients under the direction of the OT/PT/SLP to perform the following: PROM, ADL tasks, group activities, cognitive stimulating activities, community re-entry.
  • Consistent review of stock and PAR levels for all supplies and equipment (As Needed).

Requirements:

Education:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification/Licenses:


  • Current BLS issued by American Heart Association.

Skills:


  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:


  • Experience in healthcare preferred.
