Position Description:

The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Sciences at the University of Iowa invites applications for a visiting faculty position beginning August 2026. This is a full-time position. This is an entirely teaching position with no research or service expectations or time allocation. A full-time teaching load in this position is the equivalent of 4 standard courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters, with an annual salary of $78,000. This appointment will carry standard University of Iowa benefits. Appointments are for one academic year and may be renewable up to a maximum of three years total, depending on departmental teaching need and college approval.

Education Requirement:


  • Candidates must hold a PhD in Statistics and Actuarial Sciences or closely related field at the time of appointment.


Required Qualifications:


  • Experience teaching introductory college or university mathematics courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Familiarity with engaged student learning and student centered, evidence-based instructional practices and a commitment to using them.
  • Willingness to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to reform and sustain aspects of the undergraduate mathematics curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
