Description

As MISO's Senior Engineer - Generation Interconnection, you will be responsible for performing power system studies and serving as the subject matter expert when coordinating project details with MISO interconnection customers, transmission owners, and neighboring RTOs. You may also lead assigned affected system studies or study interconnection projects within a designated region of the MISO footprint.

Within your first year as our Senior Engineer - Generation Interconnection, you will know you are successful if you:



  • Lead and perform system impact studies for generator interconnection requests within the MISO generator interconnection queue.
  • Manage and conduct affected system studies for generator interconnection requests across both MISO and neighboring transmission systems.
  • Review transmission owner project proposals, provide technical recommendations, and influence project direction and outcomes.
  • Lead, support, and actively participate in internal and external committees, task forces, and working groups related to system planning and generation interconnection.
  • Develop and implement process controls and quality assurance measures to ensure study accuracy, consistency, and timely completion.
  • Apply independent judgment to make timely, effective recommendations and resolve complex issues in alignment with applicable standards, policies, procedures, regulations, and industry practices.


Our Senior Engineer - Generation Interconnection requires:



  • A bachelor's degree or higher in one of several engineering disciplines (see qualifying degrees below).
  • At least four (4) years' experience related to power system planning, operations experience, or related field.
  • Experience with power system analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, TSAT, and VSAT.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical data and business scenarios and develop sound recommendations to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills, project planning, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of NERC and FERC regulatory compliance requirements.


The appropriate level will be determined based on experience and knowledge.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $124,000-$149,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
