Speech Pathologist SLP Pediatrics Rehab PRN

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Pediatrics Rehab team. This is role will be PRN/as needed requiring at least a weekend shift per month.

Our pediatric rehab team provides therapy services to the 226-bed pediatric hospital which includes a level IV NICU, PICU, Cardiac Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, Medical/Surgical Unit, and Hematology/Oncology/Orthopedic and Trauma Unit.

Speech Pathologist (SLP) Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in patient evaluation treatment and documentation.
  • Collaborates with the patient and/or family whenever possible to set treatment priorities and select activities that maximize participation in the treatment process as evidenced by feedback and observation.
  • Demonstrates creativity, diversity and resourcefulness to gain patient involvement, to accommodate special circumstances or needs of the patient or adapt the treatment environment to optimize patient responses evidenced by team feedback and observation.
  • Provides clinical mentoring and operational guidance, education, and/or supervision to new or less experienced staff, students and support personnel. Acts as an approachable, tactful mentor in all situations. Takes a proactive role with new or inexperienced staff in developing their clinical and administrative skills as evidenced by staff feedback and outcomes of mentoring efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP)
  • Licensure: Speech Language Pathologist licensed (Virginia)
  • Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualification:

  • At least 1 year of infant feeding experience in the NICU setting
