Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000

Position Summary
The Director of Academic Affairs and Student Success provides leadership and operational oversight for academic programming and student success initiatives across the University College and its campuses, with a primary focus on the Bachelor of General Studies. This role is responsible for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of academic advising, promoting student persistence and completion, leading assessment efforts, and supporting a broad range of academic matters. The Director will work to align academic quality, student engagement, and enrollment strategies to ensure consistent, high-quality services across University College campuses, fostering student persistence, timely degree completion, and career advancement.

Job Details
* Regular travel between University College campuses is required, along with occasional evening and weekend hours to support events and programs. The primary work location is flexible across campuses, and a hybrid/remote work arrangement may be available.
* This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprinting. Cash Handling and Personal Identifiable information background check.
* Offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree.
* At least six (6) years of directly related experience.
* Significant leadership experience in higher education, preferably in continuing education or adult learning environments.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
* Master's Degree.
* At least eight (8) years of directly related experience.

* Experience in student success initiatives.
* Experience with academic program oversight.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
* Proficiency in data analysis and using data to support decision-making.
* Knowledge of accreditation, assessment practices, and regulatory requirements.
* Experience supervising staff across multiple sites or locations.
* Experience in data analysis and visualization.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within team-based environments.
* Demonstrated creativity in developing new programs and addressing challenges.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of Temple University applications, systems and programs.
* Experience with degree completion programs and nontraditional student populations.
Essential Duties
Leadership & Administration
* Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for academic excellence and student success in the Bachelor of General Studies and other degree completion programs.
* Lead cross-functional collaboration to develop and implement initiatives that enhance student success, retention, and completion rates.
* Use data-driven decision-making to improve student outcomes and program effectiveness.
* Supervise and evaluate staff across multiple campuses; address unique needs of geographically dispersed students and staff to ensure consistent delivery of services and academic quality across all University College locations.
* Travel regularly between campuses as required.
Academic Advising & Professional Development
* Oversee holistic advising and student support services tailored to adult and transfer students that support degree planning, timely progression, and student engagement.
* Ensure advising services are accessible and responsive, including maintaining sufficient appointment availability to meet the needs of working adult students, with consideration for evening and virtual options.
* Collaborate with academic units to ensure quality services and programs for all students at University College campuses. Support summer/precollege programs in program development.
* Establish policies, standards, and training to ensure consistency across campuses.
* Utilize data analytics to monitor and improve advising effectiveness, student satisfaction and student progress.
* Coordinate with Career Center and external stakeholders to offer to integrate career readiness into academic pathways and co-curricular programming and provide networking, internships, and career advancement opportunities.
Student Success, Retention & Recognition
* Coordinate with university-wide efforts to design and implement retention strategies, early alert systems, and intervention programs.
* Ensure onboarding processes and orientation programs address the unique needs of degree completion students, including transfer credit and prior learning assessment.
* Monitor student performance and persistence metrics, with targeted outreach to at-risk populations.
* Promote inclusive practices that support diverse adult learners.
* Coordinate with Institutional Advancement to oversee scholarship programs, including criteria development, selection processes, and stewardship.
* Coordinate commencement, recognition events, honor societies and academic ceremonies
that celebrate academic achievement and engagement in conjunction with BGS Faculty Director, academic programs and campus staff.
Recruitment & External Partnerships
* Develop and implement recruitment strategies for adult and nontraditional learners in collaboration with community organizations, employers, and external partners.
* Collaborate with academic units to recruit students and support programs at University College campuses. Support precollege/summer programs in recruitment and program development efforts.
* Build and sustain partnerships that expand access to degree completion pathways.
* Represent the University College in outreach initiatives, information sessions, and community engagement efforts.
* Coordinate closely with the central undergraduate admissions office to align recruitment efforts, streamline processes, and support prospective students through enrollment.
Curriculum Development, Management and Communications
* Support course scheduling and program offerings to optimize access, flexibility, and resource utilization across locations.
* Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership on curriculum development, program review, submission and approvals.
* Support development of new programs and offerings based on curricular analysis and market surveys
* Manage content for academic publications, including catalogs, program materials, and student-facing communications.
* Ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with institutional policies and branding.
* Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Assessment & Continuous Improvement
* Develop and oversee assessment plans for student learning outcomes, program effectiveness, and service quality.
* Analyze data to inform decision-making, strategic planning, and accreditation reporting.
* Promote a culture of evidence-based improvement across all functional areas.
* Ensure integrity, accuracy, and effective management of academic records and student data.
* Analyze academic performance data to inform policy and program enhancements.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
