POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant I

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Duties will include performing molecular biology and biochemistry experiments (DNA purification, cloning, RNAi, CRISPR, recombinant overexpression, Western blot, qRT PCR; protein production); mammalian and bacterial cell culture; chemical biology; plate-based assay development.
  • Work under general supervision. Assistance given for unusual problems and normally reviewed for application of sound professional judgement.
  • May conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory techniques/procedures. Some ability to use judgement when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques. Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.


REQUIREMENTS:



  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained.
  • Requires 1-3 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master's degree, 0-2 years experience required.
  • Background in proteomics/chemical proteomics; chemical biology; cellular biology; molecular biology; and/or assay development is highly desired.
  • Must be highly motivated, collaborative, detail-oriented and reliable for accurate performance of research analyses and well-organized record keeping. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision are essential.
  • Must be able to interpret results and will be responsible for accurate scientific research, documentation of results, and the evaluation/analysis of data.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment.
  • Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.


COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $20.67 to $25.06 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
