DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on helping Welcome Center visitors by providing accurate information, organized materials, and friendly support. Your dedicated efforts will help to ensure that travelers receive the guidance they need while keeping the Welcome Center running smoothly. As a Tourist Information Counselor, you will perform the following duties:
- Customer Guidance: Provide travelers with directions, lodging details, and useful information about attractions across Pennsylvania
- Center Operations: Open and close the Welcome Center and maintain neat, clean, and well organized displays
- Information Management: Restock brochures and supplies and maintain an accurate inventory of available materials
- Record Keeping: Prepare daily reports, visitor counts, and notes on special visits or activities
- Travel Support: Participate in tours, travel shows, and training events to support tourism outreach
- Team Communication: Share questions, ideas, and concerns with the Tourist Information Supervisor to support center operations

- Part-time temporary "on call" employment.
- Shifts vary and working hours are based on operational need.
- On call shifts can range from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, (temporarily hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM), 7 days per week.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in work involving public contact; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing and able to work in and commute to Delaware County PennDOT Welcome Center: I-95 North: I-95 northbound, 1/2 mile north of PA/DE border, Linwood.
- You must have the ability to be "on call" between 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, seven days a week. Current hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- You must have the ability to report to work within 1-hour of being called in.
- You must have front facing public contact experience.
- You must have experience working with computers.
- You must have experience answering phones, composing emails, compiling reports, tracking office activities and inventory, entering data, and filing.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Five or more years of full-time experience in work involving front facing public.
- High school diploma or equivalent
