Technical Program Manager, People Engineering

Tesla Motors, Inc.
96,800 - 217,200 USD
paid holidays, flex time, 401(k)
United States, California, Palo Alto
Jun 05, 2026
What to Expect
We're hiring a builder-minded Technical Program Manager to design, ship, and continuously improve the systems and programs that shape every Tesla employee's journey - from offer through every milestone that follows. These are high-stakes, high-visibility programs where accuracy, scale, and trust are critical: when they work, no one notices; when they break, everyone does.

You'll work across engineering, business partners, and leadership to build programs from first principles. Rather than copying what other companies do, you'll deeply understand what Tesla actually needs and deliver it. The ideal candidate treats programs like products - instrumenting them, measuring their impact, and iterating based on data. You're equally comfortable writing requirements, running SQL queries, and reviewing pull requests.

What You'll Do
  • Design and ship employee-facing programs and the underlying systems, owning outcomes end-to-end
  • Define requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and prioritize ruthlessly based on impact and feasibility
  • Build prototypes, internal tools, scripts, dashboards, and integrations to move faster than a traditional engineering cycle allows
  • Drive cross-functional execution across engineering, data, and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources (HRIS, payroll, vendors, and internal tools) to drive decisions and provide leadership visibility
  • Communicate effectively with all audiences - from executive proposals to technical specifications and stakeholder data stories
  • Monitor program performance post-launch and iterate rapidly; the first version is never the final version

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record designing and shipping enterprise-scale programs or systems with measurable business impact
  • Hands-on proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar - able to prototype, query data, and read production code independently
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams on system design, integrations, and data architecture
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clear proposals that secure leadership buy-in
  • First-principles thinker who defaults to action and ownership
