The Associate Transmission Planning Analysis Engineer will be responsible for assisting studies in connection with the 34.5 kV, 69 kV, 138 kV, 230 kV and 345 kV transmission system to ensure the operational reliability, adequacy, and security based on FERC 715. This work includes analysis of and studies for power flow, dynamic-stability, transient-stability, and voltage-stability.
- Assist the annual NERC TPL-001 Transmission System Planning Performance Assessment using steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamics power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715.
- Assist with documentation for the assessment required by NERC EOP-005 System Restoration from Blackstart Resources using transient power systems techniques utilizing PSCAD.
- Assist with documentation for the annual NERC CIP-014 Physical Security assessment modeling realistic and historical physical attacks on transmission equipment to determine if said physical attack could result in instability, uncontrolled separation, or Cascading within an electrical Interconnection utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, and DSA Tools.
- As requested, assist with or perform NERC FAC-002 qualified changes and material modification impact studies to determine if any new or materially modified load, any new or materially modified generation, or any new or materially modified transmission results in an inability of the Transmission System to meet the performance requirements of FERC 715 using as applicable steady-state, short-circuit, dynamic, and transient power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, DSA Tools, and PSCAD as governed by FERC 715.
- Assist with the evaluation of the optimization of the Transmission System and proposed Transmission plans to reduce overall investment driving downward pressure on electric rates utilizing traditional and all new relevant and upcoming technologies such as GETs.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings of, Plan projects within, and Evaluate MISO's regional Transmission Planning process, the MISO Expansion Transmission Plan (MTEP) to ensure effective, efficient, and thorough evaluation of Transmission Projects ensuring just and reasonable Transmission scope using steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamics power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings of, assist with the planning of projects within, and evaluate MISO's Expedited Project Review (EPR) and Expediate Resource Adequacy Study (ERAS) to ensure effective, efficient, and thorough evaluation of Transmission Projects ensuring just and reasonable Transmission scope using steady-state, short-circuit, dynamics, and transient power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, DSA Tools, and PSCAD as governed by FERC 715.
- Collaborate amongst Indiana's five vertically integrated Investor-Owned Utilities and two Generation & Transmission Cooperatives to establish a cost-effective forecasted Transmission Plan that reliably serves existing and new Indiana customers.
- Prepare for and defend against regulatory audits of entities including but not limited to NERC, IURC, FERC, and MISO for adherence to Transmission Tariffs, Distribution Tariff, and NERC compliance.
- Provide the Transmission Operations Control Center assistance in times of emergency such as extreme weather events, emergency repairs, or system restoration to ensure a timely return to energization of AES Indiana's customers.
