Manager, Planning
Position Profile:
This position is accountable for the development, maintenance, and execution of a master production schedule for the Marine production line to meet customer demand and support business objectives. The Planning Manager works closely with production manager, supply chain, program management, engineering, quality, and operations members to monitor material and personnel resources to meet ongoing customers' requirements. This position is responsible for the movement of all material and aspects of material management from planning to product shipment. This individual will have a clear understanding of contractual requirements to successfully manage the master production schedule. Candidate must manage direct reports, monitor forecasts, manage inventory and aging WIP, perform capacity planning and develop reporting metrics. The Planning Manager provides effective leadership to their team while working within a fast-paced cross functional organization.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 10 years in planning/scheduling in fast pace mixed product manufacturing.
- APICS or CPIM certified
- Demonstrated experience supporting production cells and driving to meet customer and fiscal targets.
- Strong knowledge of MRP systems, planning and scheduling activities.
- Significant knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing principles.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as outside agents, including but not limited to suppliers, customers, etc.
- Strong computer literacy with Excel; export system data into Excel to perform analysis.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and manage accurate forecasts. Provide Monthly, Quarterly, and yearly revenue forecasts.
- Perform Master scheduling.
- Adhere to customer deliveries.
- Lead weekly production meeting to ensure successful execution.
- Manages a team of Planners and Material Coordinators, provides guidance and support as needed. Perform quarterly check-ins and yearly performance reviews.
- Ensure team is planning properly by monitoring bookings, engineering change orders and MRP outputs.
- Provide accurate lead time and cadence quotes to customer service.
- Provides support to operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Interfaces with Production Managers and Program Managers on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
- Manages requirements of production concurrent with new development programs.
- Manage work order material flow from inception through completion.
- Manage component shortages to resolution.
- Perform planning and production tasks, anticipate program needs, and expedite material and tool requirements for production, manufacturing, and assembly operations.
- Schedule production factoring in work orders, maintenance, new product development, inventory availability and capacity planning.
- Measure performance of all critical factors to ensure compliance to plans to include publishing of KPI's.
- Lead issue resolution when products are behind schedule or at risk of being behind schedule.
- Own production orders from start to finish, recording time and output and troubleshooting any discrepancies immediately with a common goal of correcting the problems.
- Interface with manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain and management as a liaison to provide timely status of work products and / or problem identification and resolution.
- Ensures the ERP system integrity to drive material and production schedules and execute processes per requirements. Maintain ERP system parameters including material master data and performance criteria.
- Manage exception messages
- Manage capacity levels for assigned resources and provide options for constraint management.
- Establish safety stock, minimum order quantities and yield.
- Monitor and manage run sizes and run frequencies within the assigned production lines and be actively involved in the stock planning process.
Work Environment:
- This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
- Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
- Travel is not expected for this position.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Vision and color vision must pass job-required vision screening.
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, or crouch, and move about the facility.
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Pay Range: $136,285 - $145,182/year
This position is at our Montville, NJ corporate offices location.
