Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Youth Mobile Crisis Services Manager and in accordance with the Mobile Response and Stabilization Services model (MRSS), the Mental Health Care Provider (MHCP) provides solution-focused and strength-oriented crisis intervention aimed at working with youth and families. MHCP will coordinate with existing outpatient providers and natural supports in an effort to understand the current crisis, identify solutions, and access resources and services as needed. MHCP services are intended to support and maintain individuals in their current living situation and community environment, while reducing the use of emergency departments, hospital boarding, and detention centers due to behavioral health crisis's.

Schedule: Thursday, Friday, & Saturday; 7am-9am

Responsibilities:



  • Support individuals, youth, and families by providing trauma informed care, de-escalation techniques, and harm reduction
  • Promote and support safe behavior in home, school, and community settings
  • Assist individuals, youth, and families in accessing and referring to ongoing support and services, including intensive clinical and in-home services, as needed
  • Provides Mobile Crisis outreach services in person, whenever possibl
  • Mobile crisis services provided are available within two hours of contact for emergent, within 24 hours for an urgent crisis, and best practice is a response within 60 minutes for all call types
  • The crisis is defined by the parent/caregiver and/ or youth themselves
  • Mental Health Care Provider will provide developmentally appropriate services
  • Mental Health Care Providers are intentionally inclusive of family/caregivers and natural supports throughout a stabilization period
  • Mental Health Care Providers are to serve children, youth, young adults and families or caregivers in their natural environments including (but not limited to) at home or in school.
  • Completes progress notes and other required documentation in the electronic consumer files within the required timeframe.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources, coordinates consumer treatment with other providers, and initiates referrals to medical providers and other community resources when appropriate.
  • Meet with child/youth and family, completing behavioral health clinical assessment tools including the CSSR-S, GAINS and Quadrant determination.
  • Maintain knowledge of community behavioral health and other support services to ensure all children and their families are linked to helping resources in their local communities as soon as the service and support need is identified in the intake and referral process.
  • Listen to and analyze the family's story, and with them, identify strengths, needs, preferences and goals for the behavioral health intervention and treatment planning process.
  • Provide in home safety supports including analyzing and assessing home environment. This may include performing safety sweeps in the home or therapeutic foster home for children and youth with suicidal ideation and other high-risk safety concerns (as identified in a Mental Health intake or crisis referral).
  • Prescribe and implement behavioral health strategies and treatment plans for high risk children and youth, modeling and teaching social behavior, self-protection skills and awareness, and developmentally appropriate coping and social interaction skills.
  • Provide skill building support that enhances a youth's ability to function effectively and safely in the community addressing therapeutic issues such as anger management, alternatives to aggression toward others, frustration tolerance, and socialization.
  • Healthcare Coordination - Work in collaboration with youth's primary care physicians and healthcare specialists to support coordination of medical and behavioral health services to children/youth and caregivers served.
  • Utilize team member expertise and role in working with child/youth and families including: Family Support Specialists, Certified Peers, Behavioral Support Specialist in consultation with Clinical Supervisor, and other natural supports as needed. Embrace diverse perspectives and incorporate recommendations into treatment planning and service provision.
  • Maintain a focus on strengths, needs and creative solutions and inspire others to follow this format in problem solving
  • Provides training and guidance to new staff in addition to current staff that need more direct assistance.

  • Responsible for upholding a culture of privacy and security in a highly confidential work environment (HIPAA covered entity service area)
  • Complies with all Catholic Charities policies and procedures that involve access to and safeguarding of client Protected health Information (all forms)

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

The following requirements are those that are normally required for performance of this position. Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. Position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision.

Non-Physical Requirements:

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral science or a related field, preferred OR
  • Associate's degree in behavioral science + 2 years of related work experience


Special Skills



  • Strong family and individual clinical case management skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated, work independently and as a team member
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community


Licensure, Registration, Certification



  • Valid Washington State driver's license and minimum required liability insurance for WA state
  • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities' liability insurance provider
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration


Employment is conditional upon:

Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required

Work Schedule: Thursday, Friday & Saturday; 7am-9pm

Wage Range: $23.32-$28.62 per hour, depending on experience
