Position Description

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Developer/Consultant with deep expertise in SharePoint and Microsoft 365 to support a

project team focused on delivering functional support across customer services, business process optimization, and IT enhancements. The role will involve designing, configuring, implementing, and managing a SharePoint environment (SP2019/SP Online), while optimizing usability, accessibility, and user experience (UX) across collaborative M365 tools. The SharePoint Developer/Consultant will also help train and support end users in best practices for content management and collaboration. This is a very high-profile project engagement within a high-security, mission-critical environment.

This project offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact by shaping how collaborative tools and IT solutions drive customer experience, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness. You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts in change management, communications, technical facilitation, data analysis, and human-centered design to deliver solutions that enhance engagement, accessibility, and collaboration across the enterprise.

Qualified candidates must have a Top Secret security clearance (or one that's been active within the past two years) and be willing to work on-site at the client location in Arlington, VA.

What You'll Do

Design & Develop
  • Design, implement, configure, and manage SharePoint environments (SP2019/SP Online) within an enterprise network
  • Integrate SharePoint with Microsoft 365 applications to optimize workflows, permissions, rules, and business processes
  • Configure and maintain site permissions, groups, document libraries, lists, metadata, and site settings
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility and data security requirements, including Section 508 and PII safeguarding
  • Design, test, and refine front-end user interfaces to improve usability, accessibility, and overall user experience (UX) within SharePoint and M365 environments
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable and user-centered SharePoint solutions
  • Partner with the project team to support training and user adoption initiatives; provide technical input for training materials, user guides, FAQs, job aids, and SOPs
  • Provide advisory support and training through desk-side, small group, and virtual sessions (covering both basic and advanced SharePoint/DOD365 functionality)
  • Participate in client meetings, working sessions, and project team coordination activities as needed
Content Management & Governance
  • Assist with content audits, cleanup efforts, and information organization activities
  • Support implementation of metadata standards, document management practices, and governance requirements
  • Configure and maintain site permissions, groups, document libraries, lists, metadata, and site settings
  • Ensure content complies with organizational standards, records management requirements, and established governance practices
  • Support site reviews and quality assurance efforts to ensure consistency across SharePoint sites
SharePoint Administration
  • Provide day-to-day SharePoint Online and DoD365 administration support, including assisting users with content organization, document management, search, navigation, and collaboration features
  • Support site owners with routine administrative requests and troubleshooting
  • Support onboarding of new site owners and power users
Requirements
Required
  • Active Top Secret clearance (or one that's been active within the past two years)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Five (5)+ years of experience in:
    • SharePoint administration and configuration (SP2019/SP Online)
    • M365 integration, permissions management, rules/flows setup
    • Developing documentation and translating requirements into user solutions
    • Designing and delivering beginner to advanced SharePoint training
    • Designing and implementing intuitive user experiences (UI/UX) and accessible front-end interfaces in compliance with Section 508 standards
  • Experience supporting government, defense, or federal projects
  • Knowledge of collaborative tool governance and experience with enterprise-wide adoption strategies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a business style for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Flexible, adaptive mindset with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes, and often ambiguous client environments
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site with the end customer in Arlington, VA
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, now and in the future, without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Preferred
  • CompTIA A+, MS-900 (M365 Fundamentals), or ITIL 4.0 certification

Compensation

The projected annual salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $160,000. Actual compensation and starting salaries are determined by various factors, including the candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, certifications, clearance level, and internal equity. Once at The Clearing, movement through pay bands is based on performance. Base-annual salary is just one component of The Clearing's total compensation philosophy and approach. Physical and Mental Requirements

While performing duties of this job, an employee may be required to perform any, or all of the following: attend meetings in and out of the office, travel (sometimes extensively); occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand; communicate effectively (both orally and in writing); ability to effectively use computers and other electronic and standard office equipment; and occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is primarily sedentary and involves sitting for several hours at a time. Occasionally, walking, climbing stairs, and standing occur in this role. Additionally, this job requires certain mental demands, including the ability to exercise judgment, withstand moderate stress, and maintain attention to detail.
