This role will be a key driver in converting engineering requirements into executable plans, aligning internal teams and external vendors, and providing clear visibility into cost, schedule, risks, and decision points. The successful candidate will own project schedules, cost trackers, milestone management, and risk registers while developing repeatable planning templates and processes that improve delivery discipline and support accelerated customer needs for scalable DCBBS execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules, milestone trackers, cost trackers, and action item logs for assigned DCBBS projects.
- Support end-to-end planning activities across proposal, SOW development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Track and manage project risks, open decisions, long-lead items, and cross-functional dependencies with clear owners, due dates, and escalation paths.
- Provide regular, clear status reporting on cost, schedule, risks, and progress to leadership, engineering teams, and customer-facing stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain repeatable planning templates, cost tracking formats, execution playbooks, and governance processes for consistent DCBBS project delivery.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, supply chain, construction, and external vendors/partners to align plans, resolve dependencies, and drive execution discipline.
- Identify and communicate cost and schedule variances, risks, and decision points early, supporting proactive mitigation and stakeholder alignment.
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement of planning, cost management, and execution processes to enhance delivery predictability and scalability.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) on technical program management, cost & schedule planning, risk management, and execution governance for data center projects.
- Mentor junior program or project management staff and collaborate effectively with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide training on planning tools, templates, cost tracking, risk registers, and project governance processes for internal stakeholders.
- Engage with industry partners and stay current on best practices in data center program management, cost controls, and repeatable delivery methodologies for modular and hyperscale infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related technical/financial field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in program management, with at least 5 years in data center program management, construction estimation, or design-for-cost roles.
- At least 3 years of experience working with financial controls, project controls, or technical projects in data center or mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing estimation workflows, analyzing trade package pricing, and utilizing cost management / PMIS platforms (e.g., e-Builder, Procore).
- Strong experience developing and maintaining project schedules, cost trackers, risk registers, and financial reporting in complex cross-functional programs.
- Proficiency with enterprise financial tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and project management information systems for tracking, variance analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive reporting skills with the ability to present cost/schedule status and recommendations clearly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills with experience identifying cost/schedule impacts and cross-functional dependencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or MBA with emphasis in a technical or financial field.
- 5+ years of experience as a quantity surveyor, project controls manager, financial analyst, or construction estimator in data center or large-scale infrastructure.
- Deep technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, with ability to price, audit, and assess electrical (UPS, generators) and cooling systems.
- Experience with advanced estimating techniques including should-cost, parametric, and bottoms-up models from early-stage design concepts.
- Strong knowledge of financial control methodologies including CSI coding, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), budget variance analysis, and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in advanced spreadsheet modeling, data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), and familiarity with how AI tools can increase productivity in cost management and planning.
- Experience handling complex construction contracts, change orders, and presenting defensible budgets to executive or funding committees.
- Knowledge of general construction market conditions, industry trends, and cost benchmarks for data center infrastructure.
- Proven ability to set strategy, collaborate, and influence across multiple levels of an organization in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
