DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important role in ensuring that all incoming and outgoing mail is processed safely within the Security Processing Center. The work supports secure operations across multiple facilities. As a Corrections Mail Inspector, you will perform the following duties:
- Mail Inspection: Examine labels, packaging, and tracking details to identify possible security risks
- Policy Compliance: Verify that mail items follow Department of Corrections mailing rules and report concerns to supervisors
- Secure Delivery: Coordinate and deliver approved items to various institutional locations
- Record Keeping: Maintain logs and documentation for all inmate property and processed items
- Communication Support: Respond to written requests and communicate with staff to ensure smooth operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of clerical experience, including one year in the field of corrections; or
- Any combination of experience and/or training which provides the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
