Description
The Compliance Technician supports site environmental processes and activities for the Denham Springs chemical manufacturing facility. The position executes, but is not limited to, daily monitoring, sampling, testing, and documentation to ensure compliance with wastewater, stormwater, air quality, waste management, and related regulatory programs.

The Compliance Technician works collaboratively with site EHS professionals, as well as the Operations, Utilities, and Maintenance teams- including site leadership - to maintain compliance with all applicable permits, regulations, internal standards, and company requirements. The role also assists in safety compliance tasks and contributes to continuous improvement, cost reduction, and operational excellence.

Job Details

Role Specific Responsibilities:

* Conduct daily sampling and laboratory analysis for onsite wastewater treatment plant, document results, and trend influent and effluent data to verify system performance and regulatory compliance.
* Support day-to-day operation and basic troubleshooting of the wastewater treatment system under direction of the site environmental representative, including chemical adjustments, equipment checks, coordination with Utility Operations and Operations, including documentation and communication of process changes.
* Assist in routine wastewater and stormwater sampling in accordance with LPDES water permit requirements.
* Conduct regular inspections of hazardous and universal waste areas, including the facility's 180-day storage area, satellite accumulation areas, and universal waste storage area.
* Assist in managing routine waste shipments including filing of shipping manifests.
* Maintain accurate waste inventories, accumulation logs, shipment logs, and related compliance records.
* Assist with waste minimization trials and initiatives.
* Conduct daily environmental compliance rounds, correct discrepancies, and document findings.
* Support spill and incident response activities.
* Participate in incident root cause analyses (RCAs) and assisting with corrective action follow-up.
* Assist in closing action items from internal and external EHS audits.
* Enter compliance data into EHS software systems.

Education & Qualifications:

* Associates degree, experience and/or equivalent preferred.
* High School Diploma required
* Relevant certifications preferred (preferred experience areas include chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or related technical field)
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Experience:

* 2 years Manufacturing and/or Environmental experience (or equivalent) is required.
* SAP knowledge or ability to learn preferred.
* Chemical plant manufacturing experience, or equivalent, is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Strong analysis and problem assessment skills.
* Displays sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
* Displays robust communication skills and possesses the ability to work in a team-based environment.
* Willing to work weekends and holidays if required; ability to work any shift as required.

* Demonstrated solid verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently.
* Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as standing, climbing, and walking for hours. Ability to lift, push or pull objects up to 50 pounds. Conditioned to work in hot environments, while wearing fire retardant clothing, typically found in Louisiana manufacturing facilities, warehouses, wastewater treatment plants, and plant operations.
