POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: This is an intermediate level position and the incumbent provides the VDC department with skilled knowledge of the coordination process and produces accurate installation documents to be utilized in HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, or Electrical-related projects. Base salary range of $70K - $75K KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, or Electrical VDC models for project use.
- Can create and maintain a local copy of a coordination model and has the ability to run clash detection of their discipline with other project elements.
- Coordinates HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, or Electrical models and resolves conflicts with other trade professionals that will have the most cost effective outcome possible for our scope of work.
- Leads and directs the work of other detailers on assigned projects.
- Thoroughly reviews their shop/fab drawings and related documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Interfaces and collaborates with department personnel on projects to achieve shared goals.
- Interprets blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
- Reviews contract drawings, specifications, construction standards, and other job-specific requirements.
- Produces VDC models that comply with design criteria, contract requirements, and applicable code.
- Tracks project schedules, milestones, and maintains department project logs.
- Plays a bridging role back and forth between the pre-construction and construction phases of given projects.
- Prioritizes and encourages safety while executing work tasks, especially when at a construction site.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position operates primarily in an office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, plotters, and printers.
- Work tasks may occasionally be performed at local job sites, which means intermittent exposure to outside weather and conditions typically associated with a construction site.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
- This is considered a sedentary position, which means possible exertion up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
TRAVEL:
- This position may require occasional local travel to attend meetings and conduct site visits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of construction and/or engineering industry-specific experience.
- Familiarity with applicable Mechanical, Plumbing or Electrical building codes and safety laws.
- Intermediate-level knowledge of Autodesk products - Revit, Navisworks Manage, Fabrication MEP, etc.
- Proficient with Google platforms and apps (Google Sheets and Google Docs in particular.) or Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular).
- Ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) with diverse audiences.
- Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to effectively work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, as business needs dictate.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Trade school completion or Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
- Trade experience in HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical construction in commercial buildings.
