POSITION SUMMARY

With general guidance in a team environment, responsible for operating CNC milling equipment and performing basic to moderately complex machining activities in accordance with blueprints, specifications, setup instructions, and standard work. Supports safe and compliant part processing by monitoring machine operation, verifying part quality using standard inspection tools, making minor cutter compensation or offset adjustments as needed, and communicating machining, tooling, or quality concerns through established channels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Interprets blueprints, specifications, work instructions, setup sheets, and process documentation to understand part requirements, inspection expectations, tolerances, and critical features with appropriate guidance.

Demonstrates working knowledge of CNC milling operations, including safe machine operation, part loading, cycle start, tool changes, and basic machine controls.

Understands basic cutting tools used in CNC milling, including end mills, drills, taps, reamers, chamfer tools, and inserts, and recognizes tool wear, damage, or improper cutting conditions.

Verifies parts conform to blueprint, specification, dimensional, geometric, surface finish, and quality requirements using standard inspection tools and documented inspection methods.

Performs in-process and final inspection checks using appropriate gages, calipers, micrometers, indicators, comparators, and other inspection equipment as required.

Makes minor cutter compensation and offset adjustments, with guidance as needed, to maintain dimensional and geometric requirements.

Monitors machine operation, part condition, surface finish, tool performance, and cutting action to identify issues affecting quality or process stability.

Recognizes out-of-specification conditions, machine alarms, tooling concerns, or process abnormalities and communicates issues promptly through established channels.

Follows standard work, setup instructions, safety requirements, and documented procedures to ensure consistent and compliant part processing.

Completes required production documentation, inspection records, and procedural forms accurately and on time.

Maintains equipment and work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition in accordance with company policies and safety standards.

Supports continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, setup consistency, tooling usage, and process efficiency.

Performs other related responsibilities as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Two years related tooling experience or demonstrated ability to perform described position responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to use precision measuring instruments and determine the condition and sizes of all tools and fixtures and good knowledge of shop tools, jigs, fixtures, templates, standard tooling system and computer terminal operations.

Must demonstrate manual dexterity.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Ability to read and follow forms, schematics and specifications.

  • Pay Range: $22.4/hr to $34.7/hr
