HDR is seeking a strong, experienced individual as Area Resources Business Group Manager to lead our team in the Colorado marketplace. The Resources Business Group provides professional services in the Power, Waste, Industrial, and Federal industries across the area and beyond with collaboration with other Areas. The Resources Business Group Manager is responsible for supporting HDR's teams in these markets and leads operations, business development, team development and overall program growth. This position is strongly preferred to be based out of our downtown Denver office. The position will require periodic travel across the area for client engagement and other office presence. This position will report to the Colorado Area Manager who is based in Denver. This individual will be expected to execute the annual business plan of the Colorado Resources Business Group. They will work in partnership with the Central Region Resources Business Group Director and the Colorado Area Manager to deliver on the existing program and demonstrate ability to diversify and grow the program into the future. In this role, we'll count on you to:
- Take responsibility for operations including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support.
- Function as a Client and Project Manager by taking responsibility for client service and project delivery in addition to business group management responsibilities.
- Take administrative responsibility for the staff and technical service functions and lead and coordinate services with other business groups.
- Be directly involved in business development planning, proposals, and interviews.
- See that the work is planned, organized, controlled, delivered with quality, and evaluated through a proactive project management system.
- Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
- Select, train, develop, manage, and coach project delivery personnel.
- Manage and develop multidiscipline teams.
- Work cooperatively with Area Business Group leaders, National Directors and marketing leadership in local and national client development and pursuit efforts.
- Collaborate with Business Group Market Sector Directors and the Regional Business Group Director to bring the Power, Waste, Industrial, and Federal market sector vision to fruition in the local marketplace.
- Perform other duties as needed.
The Resources Business Group in Colorado is active in power delivery, power generation, renewables, oil and gas pipelines and facilities, mining, industrial water and wastewater, solid waste, waste facilities and planning, site investigation and remediation, real estate services, and environmental services. In the role of Colorado Resources Business Group Manager, you are expected to: Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Leadership - Provides leadership/direction in the execution of strategy and initiatives in coordination with other Area, Business Group and Market Sector Leadership.
- Controlling - Responsible for the operational metrics for the Area Resources Business Group with the ability to adjust plan to meet expectations.
- Staffing - Assist in prioritization of hires, identification and recruiting of candidates.
- Client Management Leadership and Assistance - Collaborate with staff in the definition and engagement strategy for clients within the Area for the development of client development plans.
- Alignment of Resources - Coordinate the alignment of internal resources to the needs of our clients and the achievement of goals.
- Proactive Engagement - Consistently demonstrates "can-do" problem solver approach to colleagues and clients as well as a proactive mindset that moves forward towards growth goals.
- Quality - Consistent focus on quality deliverables, including proposals, reports, financials, and project deliverables that adhere to the quality management system.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Monitor and communicate progress toward period and annual net fee bookings goals as well as other key metrics.
- Work closely with sector business development leaders (BDLs) to observe trends, adjust projections, and make required alterations to plan in an effort to achieve year over year goals and cost management targets.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
- Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
- Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
