About Blue Origin

Blue Origin, LLC is a privately owned aerospace company developing technologies that will establish an enduring human presence in space. Our Facilities team is chartered with planning and performing preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as unplanned servicing of facility systems and equipment. We are seeking a Senior Facility Electrician who will serve as a technical lead within our team of facility and equipment engineers and technicians. This team is responsible for the oversight of facility electrical systems and support equipment. Highly motivated individuals interested in space development are invited to apply.

Position Summary

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will serve as the senior electrical subject matter expert responsible for the day-to-day management, troubleshooting, and strategic planning of our facility's electrical infrastructure and equipment. This role carries elevated responsibility for technical leadership, mentorship, code compliance oversight, and coordination of complex electrical projects. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis on critical systems, including switchgear, transformers, automatic transfer switches (ATS), panelboards, motor control centers (MCCs), generators, UPS systems, PDUs, lighting, HVAC and fire alarm systems.
  • Ensure all electrical work performed by internal staff and contractors meets NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and all applicable state and local code requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical inspections and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) interactions.
  • Lead arc flash hazard assessments and ensure labeling and PPE requirements are current and compliant.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance program efforts, including the transition to a more robust computer-based maintenance management system for our properties
  • Perform maintenance and/or repairs of facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain our Electrical systems via a coordinated combination of hands-on attention and contracted support.
  • Serve as an interface with outside system suppliers, including electrical, security, fire alarm, and HVAC.
  • Organize shop and facility supplies to promote workplace efficiency, coordinating with other shop personnel.
  • Coordinating with project leads for the mobilization and demobilization of equipment.
  • Provide general technical and mechanical support on an as needed basis.
  • Source, order, and confirm receipt of materials to support project completion.
  • Contribute to facilities team awareness of infrastructure and system status by highlighting discrepancies and areas of increased risk.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within Blue Facilities and in coordination with other company stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Washington State EL01 General Journey Level Electrician License - active and in good standing (Required).
  • 8-10+ years of relevant practical experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or mission-critical facility environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in NEC code interpretation, NFPA 70E compliance, and OSHA electrical safety standards.
  • Extensive experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, energized electrical work practices, and arc flash safety protocols.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems independently.
  • Experience with medium-voltage systems (600V), including switching, racking, testing, and maintenance.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop blueprints, single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, panel schedules, and control diagrams.
  • Ability to develop, write, and implement complex work processes, procedures, and electrical safety job plans.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating electrical contractors and vendors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights using fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including arc-rated clothing (up to HRC/CAT 4), hard hat, safety glasses, insulated gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergency calls and on call responsibilities.

Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $50.30 - $70.41

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
