Product Designer - Developer Tools

Location: Remote (Must reside within 100 miles of Cupertino, CA)

Duration: 3-Month Contract

Pay Rate: $68.00/hour


Overview

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Product Designer to support a team focused on developer tools and user experience innovation. This role will collaborate closely with Design Managers, Product teams, Engineers, and cross-functional partners to create intuitive, scalable, and visually compelling experiences that support complex technical workflows.

The ideal candidate is passionate about product design, thrives in collaborative environments, and has a strong track record of designing enterprise-level tools and data-driven experiences. This individual will be responsible for translating product requirements into thoughtful user experiences, delivering high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and documentation that enable seamless implementation by engineering teams.


Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and iterate on user experiences that support complex developer and technical workflows.
  • Create high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, wireframes, and supporting design documentation.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define requirements and design solutions.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, workshops, and collaborative working sessions.
  • Translate business and user needs into intuitive, user-centered experiences.
  • Deliver pixel-perfect design specifications and assets to engineering teams for implementation.
  • Ensure consistency across experiences through adherence to established design systems and standards.
  • Contribute to the evolution and improvement of design systems, patterns, and workflows.
  • Advocate for usability, accessibility, and best practices throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Incorporate stakeholder feedback and user insights to continuously improve designs.
  • Support quality assurance efforts to ensure final implementations align with design intent.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Media Arts, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of product design experience within technical environments, including enterprise applications, developer tools, data-driven platforms, or complex workflow systems.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design, creative problem-solving, interaction design, and visual design excellence.
  • Experience communicating design concepts through whiteboarding, sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and presentations.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design, visual design, information architecture, and usability principles.
  • Ability to create polished, production-ready designs with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within highly collaborative teams.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, evolving priorities, and fast-paced environments.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing enterprise software, developer tools, technical platforms, or workflow-driven applications.
  • Experience working within and contributing to established design systems.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color systems, visual hierarchy, and interface consistency.
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Passion for creating exceptional experiences for developers and technical users.
  • Ability to advocate for design excellence while balancing business and technical requirements.
