Position Overview

System High Corporation delivers the most advanced protection and secrecy solutions to secure and strengthen critical missions, programs, operations, and intelligence activities. We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team to help contribute to our success and help us solve problems with innovation through intelligence.



The Payroll Specialist has knowledge of Payroll, Tax, and General Ledger to enhance System High Corporation's Finance Department.



This position requires the ability to be able to identify company and customer needs and provide recommendations utilizing payroll best practices. This position requires the ability to work with all levels of staff (internal and external), utilizing clear, effective communication. This position has heavy contact with employees and vendors.



The Payroll Specialist duties include, but are not limited to:



Hands-on Payroll Experience



  • Working knowledge of time entry systems, Costpoint a plus
  • Working knowledge of payroll system, including Paycom, ADP, etc
  • Knowledge of Wage and Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws
  • Government contracting, DFAS, DCAA and GSA experience
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
  • Familiarity with third-party vendors including Principal for 401K processing



Payroll Processing Duties and Responsibilities



  • Semi-monthly payroll process for almost 600 employees utilizing Costpoint Time and Expense for time keeping and Paycom for pay processing
  • Process time sheet corrections
  • Assist in processing payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, increases)
  • Train new hires and existing staff to use Timesheet Module in Costpoint
  • Set up new hire access in Costpoint
  • Remove terminated employee access from Costpoint
  • Verify new hire and termination information imported from Paycom
  • Calculate first and final payment prorations including bonus and/or PTO recoup
  • Process 401k contributions, loans, and payments
  • Process PTO accruals and generate applicable reports
  • Process child support orders, garnishments, tax levies and other pay-related compliances
  • Review, verify and reconcile employee timecard entries for accuracy
  • Maintain accurate records for payroll journal entries
  • Liaise with auditors and assist with payroll audits
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Assist with preparation and filing of required federal and state tax reports
  • Assist with processing year end reports and reconciling for accuracy



Customer Service



  • Assist employees with general inquiries related to time keeping, payroll, leave accruals, and other pay related issues
  • On-board and assist new hires with time sheet processing
  • Customer relations knowledge in troubleshooting with clients, payment offices, POCs and our internal System High staf
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all financial and personal information

Qualifications

Required Skills (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)



  • Costpoint/Deltek Time and Expense
  • Paycom (or similar payroll system)
  • Microsoft Teams or other collaboration tool
  • Strong MS Office skills to include Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and computer literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, and ability to pick up and adapt to new concepts and technologies quickly.
  • Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Dependability is a must

Years of Experience/Education Requirements



  • 3+ years of time sheet, labor processing and payroll experience
  • BS/BA in Business Administration or Accounting desired
  • Paycom or other payroll system experience desired
  • FPC certification a plus
  • Costpoint experience required
