COST CONTROL & OPIMIZATION PROFESSIONAL
About the Position:
The Supplier Cost Control and Optimization Professional plays a pivotal role in supporting General Dynamics Land Systems' supply chain objectives by ensuring the effective management of supplier-related costs, quality issues, and proposal coordination. This position is responsible for identifying and tracking costs resulting from supplier quality or delivery issues, leading cost recovery initiatives, and collaborating with Procurement to issue claims and negotiate settlements. The role also involves conducting root cause analysis in partnership with Engineering, developing and monitoring corrective action plans with suppliers, and escalating unresolved issues to ensure continuous improvement.
In addition to cost recovery responsibilities, this role coordinates supply chain proposals, analyzes supplier submissions for cost, delivery, and quality impacts, and supports negotiations to achieve optimal pricing and terms. The position prepares regular reports on supplier performance, cost recovery status, and proposal outcomes, ensuring clear communication with supply chain leadership and stakeholders. By identifying opportunities for process improvement and supporting the implementation of best practices, the Specialist helps drive efficiency and excellence in supply chain operations.
This position is essential to maintaining high standards of supplier performance, cost control, and documentation, directly contributing to the success and competitiveness of General Dynamics Land Systems in a dynamic and demanding environment.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
  • Supplier Cost Recovery:
    • Identify and track supplier-related costs due to quality or delivery issues
    • Lead cost recovery initiatives, including supporting Procurement Professionals in issuing claims and negotiating settlements with suppliers
    • Maintain accurate records of all cost recovery activities and outcomes
  • Root Cause & Corrective Action Analysis:
    • Analyze data related to supplier issues to determine root causes in coordination with Engineering
    • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to develop and implement corrective action plans
    • Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and escalate unresolved issues as needed
  • Proposal Management:
    • Coordinate with buyers and other stakeholders to develop, review, and manage supply chain proposals
    • Analyze supplier proposals for cost, delivery, and quality impacts
    • Support negotiations with Procurement Specialists and suppliers to achieve optimal pricing and terms and conditions as needed
  • Reporting & Communication:
    • Prepare regular reports on supplier performance, cost recovery status, and proposal outcomes.
    • Communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to supply chain leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in supplier cost recovery and proposal management.
    • Support the implementation of best practices and standard work in supply chain processes.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, cost control, or related area
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with ERP systems preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Goal-oriented and able to work under time sensitive and demanding conditions

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial supply chains
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and supplier performance metrics
