Summary:

Summary of Major Duties for function as Ambulance Based EMT-I: To maintain and operate an emergency medical vehicle in the safe transportation of emergency and non-emergency for Albuquerque Ambulance Service of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Provide patient care within the EMT-Intermediate s scope of practice and licensure on scene of an emergency or non-emergency call. Attend on at least 50% of all non-emergency prescheduled transports appropriate to scope of practice and licensure.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and operates an emergency medical vehicle in the safe transportation of emergency and non-emergency patients. Meets all expectations for adherence to P&P and best practice in safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Assists Paramedic in providing emergency pre-hospital care for injured or ill patients at the basic and intermediate levels. Attend on at least 50% of all requests for services appropriate to scope of practice and licensure. Meets expectations for adherence to system protocols and excellence in quality of care.
  • Meets expectations for quality charting through adherence to the RESCUE narrative components. Provides accurate and complete demographics in order to support successful billing of patient transports. Meets all set expectations for patient documentation metrics for continuum of care, financial reimbursement and legal requirements.
  • Maintains positive communications and collaboration with physicians and staff regarding the definitive therapy administered to patients being delivered for emergency care at their facility.
  • Meets expectations for operational performance measures related to all time on task components. Proactively utilizes best practices to minimize out of chute, response and drop times
  • Perform other functions as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Age requirement is 18.
  • Completion of the formal Emergency Medical Technicians-Intermediate (EMT-I) course is required.
  • Current license issued by the State of New Mexico Emergency Medical Service Bureau, as an Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I) is required.
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required.
  • 1-2 years experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions is required.
  • Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary functions.
  • Completion of a PHS Non-Licensed Assistive Personnel course or similar training required prior to entering classification.
  • Formal medical technician or military training preferred.
  • Maintains annual current department competencies and Employee Health Requirements.
