| Primary Purpose of Position |
This position provides budget and administrative support to the Department Chair, faculty, and staff in the
MEES department. Duties include budget planning, reconciliation, and reporting for all University fund types. This position will set a budget plan with the Department Chair, direct spending by the department staff, and provide reports to the Chair for pending balances. The position approves expenses to ensure appropriate use of funds and balance available.
BSC works with the College Business Officer to balance funds quarterly. |
| Minimum Education/Experience |
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

| Essential Job Duties |
Duties include:
- Budget planning, reconciliation, and reporting
- Department purchasing including
- Stipends
- Teaching supplies
- Travel
- Memberships
- IT Equipment and Software
- Lab Equipment
- Event Expenses
- Coordinating with BSC for HR to ensure personnel expenses including student wages, part time faculty, post docs, etc are properly budgeted
- Assisting with start-up spending for new faculty;
- Event/conference oversight which includes planning and online registrations/enrollments;
- Updating spreadsheets for department funding
- Work with College Business Officer on quarterly FRs to balance funds
- Communicates detailed and complex information effectively to students, faculty, staff and the Chair

Preferred skills
- Budget support experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
- Experience with state and/or grant budgets, which includes reconciliation, student employment, travel, and purchasing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, especially MS Word, Excel, and Google Workspace. Knowledge of Banner or similar software preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and organize. Must be team-oriented.
