Overview
The Fleet Health Team within Microsoft 365 Core Platform is responsible for improving the reliability, availability, efficiency, and operational safety of the infrastructure that powers Microsoft 365 services worldwide. The team develops intelligent systems that transform fleet telemetry into actionable insights, enabling proactive detection of hardware issues, predictive maintenance, automated remediation, and data-driven capacity decisions. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and operate large-scale distributed systems that analyze telemetry from servers, storage devices, networking infrastructure, and repair workflows across one of the world's largest cloud fleets. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, hardware systems, data science, and AI to create solutions that predict failures before they impact customers, optimize fleet availability, and reduce operational toil through intelligent automation. You will partner closely with Fleet Management, Capacity Planning, Hardware Platform Engineering, Azure Infrastructure teams, and Site Reliability Engineers to deliver solutions that improve the reliability and efficiency of Microsoft's global infrastructure. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems, working with large-scale data, and applying AI and machine learning techniques to real-world operational challenges. This position is based in Redmond, Washington and requires the employee be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
