POSITION SUMMARY
A PACS Administrator will manage, implement and maintain all medical imaging network, PACS, RIS and EMR functions within the radiology department and all its connections to other departments.

Minimum Required Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
  • Responsible for acquiring 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years

Licensure/Certification or credentials:
  • Current A.R.R.T. and I.D.N.S. license.

Experience Level:
  • General Knowledge of PACS. Computer and EMR.

Skills/Competency:
  • Ability to connect PACS with RIS (Radiology Information Systems) and EMR functions.
  • Familiar with system integrations and imaging standards.
  • Knowledge of basic networking skills (IP addresses, firewalls, VPNs), server monitoring, and database management (such as basic SQL).
  • Skill in diagnosing root causes failures to systems.
  • Radiology workflow knowledge.
  • Comfortable and experience in training others and providing user support.

Working in hospitals/clinics involves interacting with patients-other staff-providers-public, etc. and exposure to communicable disease, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, cleaning fluids, medical waste, radiation and other hazardous conditions common to the healthcare environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure/deadlines and in a fast-paced office environment.

Physical Demands/Activities:
  • The ideal candidate must be able to perform essential job functions and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Collaboration is constant. Staff must frequently communicate with patients, doctors, nurses, technicians, other staff, administrative personnel and outside customers.
  • Communication- Ability to accurately, clearly and effectively exchange information, ideas, and feedback with diverse teams, patients, community, visitors, medical staff and clients. Strong written and interpersonal skills, with an openness to adapting communication methods to ensure team accessibility and excellent patient care.
  • Exertion- Light Work- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a small amount of force up to 10 lbs. frequently to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
  • Mobility: Full range of body motion. Stand or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally bend, sit, stoop, and stretch.
  • Dexterity: Have good hand-eye coordination to operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, fax machine, and other equipment.
  • Sensory Abilities: Have normal range of hearing and vision to operate and troubleshoot systems; specific vision requirements including close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
  • May work irregular hours and must be flexible to shifts.
