The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for managing daily transportation operations, ensuring operational visibility, and maintaining effective communication with internal customers and logistics service providers. This role involves transportation planning, performance analysis, and collaboration with various departments to achieve shared goals and support customer-specific freight requirements.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Operational Management:

  • Track and trace all shipments in transit, communicate in-transit milestones, and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Manage transportation planning activities using the transportation management system to provide optimal load solutions based on total cost-to-serve.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on carrier, customer, and site performance relative to company standards.
  • Support distribution locations in resolving transportation-related issues.

Collaboration and Relationship Building:

  • Build effective working relationships with Supply Planning, Warehousing, Contract Manufacturing, and Customer Service.
  • Collaboratively work with Lead, Operations to monitor and improve carrier performance.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with third-party providers, internal, and external customers.

Performance and Issue Resolution:

  • Provide timely feedback, recommendations, and resolution of transportation and operational issues.
  • Track and verify on-time delivery of assigned customer and inter-company shipments.
  • Conduct shipment-level speed and transit analysis to identify cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify variances and work with the Transportation Team to optimize costs and service.

Data Analysis and Process Improvement:

  • Research and analyze transportation and pricing data, including global freight costs, classifications, tariffs, delivery methods, routing needs, and delivery schedules.
  • Analyze transportation operations, including performance and productivity data, error rates, and their root causes.
  • Manage operational process improvement projects, such as order life cycle reductions and implementing SOPs.
  • Identify and lead projects to measure and improve lane routing and performance.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Monitor and analyze carrier expectations, execution, reporting, and data integrity.
  • Monitor exception reports and partner with Procurement, Customer Service, and Production Planning to resolve repetitive service issues.
  • Own development and maintenance of SOPs.
  • Mine and analyze business data to identify patterns and opportunities.

Strategic Planning:

  • Provide recommendations for inventory strategies and distribution network design.
  • Collaborate with forecasting to meet business demands and needs.
  • Develop and implement procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize costs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Become a power user in the transportation management system.
  • Maintain full truckload intermodal and LTL routing guides for intercompany shipments.
  • Understand equipment utilization and allocation.

Travel Requirement: Up to 10%

This role is not remote/ hybrid and will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in transportation operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain with focus on distribution centers, Fulfillment centers and regional Hubs
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and lead Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs).
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with Regional Logistics Leaders, Corporate Logistics, and 4th Party Logistics providers to drive sustainable improvements.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to provide timely feedback, recommendations, and resolution of transportation and operational issues.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor and/or MBA degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or business-related
  • Experience building/editing Dashboards in Tableau or similar software
  • LEAN certification/Six Sigma training or comparable will be added advantage,
  • Proven track records of multidivisional, matrix and regional working environment
  • Logistics Software Proficiency: Familiarity with logistics and transportation management systems (TMS) to manage and optimize transportation processes.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Ability to analyze data to identify trends, root causes of service defects, and areas for improvement. Proficiency in tools like Excel, SQL, or other data analysis software.
  • Process Mapping: Skills in mapping cross-functional processes and transactional flows to identify inefficiencies and optimize operations.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Capability to develop and implement strategic plans for improving carrier service performance and achieving OTIF goals.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including building and driving improvement roadmaps and leading optimization workstreams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions to improve transportation processes.
  • Systems Knowledge: Understanding of various logistics systems and how they interact, including transit table updates and order-to-cash (OTC) process flows.
