Our Mission
The American College of Surgeons is dedicated to improving the care of the surgical patient and safeguarding standards of care in an optimal and ethical practice environment.

Our Vision
To create a healthcare landscape where surgeons thrive and every patient has access to and benefits from the highest standards of surgical care, driven by innovation, education, leadership, and trust.

Summary: The Senior Manager, Marketing Intelligence is responsible for building the ACS's marketing intelligence capability, transforming raw data from customer relationship management (CRM)/association management software (AMS), marketing automation, web, and campaign platforms into predictive insight, attribution clarity, and decision-ready recommendations for the marketing organization and senior leadership.

The Senior Manager will bring a sophisticated, analytically rigorous point of view to audience segmentation, predictive modeling, attribution methodology, and marketing measurement, elevating ACS's ability to understand not just what happened in a campaign, but why, and what to do next. The role works in close partnership with the marketing team to ensure campaign execution is grounded in data-driven targeting and that results are measured with precision. This individual serves as the Strategic Marketing and Communications Division's primary analytical partner in setting strategy, prioritizing investment, and evaluating performance across the marketing portfolio.

This exempt position will report to the Associate Vice President, Marketing, in the Division of Strategic Marketing and Communications. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $135,000 (commensurate with related experience).

Major Responsibilities:

Marketing Intelligence Strategy

  • Define and lead ACS's approach to marketing intelligence.
  • Establish the data infrastructure, modeling capabilities, and analytical frameworks needed to understand audience behavior, predict outcomes, and guide investment decisions across the marketing portfolio.

Advanced Analytics & Modeling

  • Develop and maintain predictive models (e.g., propensity to join, renew, or engage; lifetime value; churn risk).
  • Create audience segmentation frameworks that inform proactive marketing strategy.

Attribution & Measurement

  • Design and own multi-touch attribution methodology across paid, owned, and earned channels, providing a clear, defensible view of what is driving acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Apply the attribution methodology to guide where investment will have the greatest impact.

Insight Generation & Executive Reporting

  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable narratives for senior leadership, distinguishing correlation from causation and ensuring recommendations are grounded in sound methodology.

Partnership with Marketing Managers

  • Work in close, day-to-day partnership with the marketing team to ensure campaigns are built on data-informed targeting and segmentation, and that in-flight and post-campaign performance is measured rigorously and fed back into planning.

Data Infrastructure & Governance

  • Partner with IT and marketing operations to ensure CRM/AMS, marketing automation (Marketo), and analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI) are integrated, accurate, and structured to support advanced analysis.
  • Establish data quality standards and governance practices.

Testing & Experimentation Design

  • Design rigorous A/B and multivariate testing frameworks in partnership with the Marketing Managers and AVP, Marketing.
  • Ensure tests are statistically sound and eliminates biases and statistical anomalies.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Enabled Analytics

  • Evaluate and apply AI and machine learning tools to accelerate segmentation, forecasting, and insight generation.
  • Keep ACS's analytics capability current with emerging techniques.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in analytics, statistics, data science, or a related quantitative field strongly preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in marketing analytics, business intelligence, or data science, ideally with meaningful exposure to marketing or membership/customer-growth contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience building predictive models (e.g., propensity, lifetime value (LTV), churn) and translating them into marketing action, not solely descriptive/historical reporting.
  • Strong command of multi-touch attribution methodologies and the tradeoffs between attribution models.
  • Advanced proficiency with BI and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Experience with marketing automation and CRM/AMS platforms (e.g., Marketo) and how their data structures support advanced analysis.
  • Experience designing and interpreting A/B and multivariate tests with statistical rigor.
  • Ability to move fluidly between technical depth and executive-level storytelling.
  • Can communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical executive audiences.
  • Stays current on advances in marketing analytics, AI/ML, and measurement practice, and brings new capability into ACS deliberately and responsibly.
