DEFINITION Under direction of the appropriate administrator, this position assists in the planning, organization, and direction of the district-wide operations and management of the ITS department; manages assigned ITS staff and technology areas; ensures consistent and effective service to the college community; and values and promotes the mission and vision of the college.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This is a classified administrative position. An incumbent in this position reports directly to the director, information technology services, and serves as administrator in charge in their absence. This position is a highly skilled working supervisory position requiring a high level of technical knowledge and ability and is typically responsible for the day-to-day operations of technical support, office technology, classroom technology, and audiovisual services. The incumbent will have a high frequency of contact with other Allan Hancock College employees and students, requiring tact and good communication skills.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides day-to-day supervision, coordination and operation of help desk services, desktop computing, AV resources, data communication infrastructure, telephone system equipment, video security systems, and related applications. Oversees the design of technology plans for new buildings, renovations, and remodels.
- In consultation with campus partners, purchases and implements computers, software, peripherals and AV equipment.
- Coordinates the technical design of classrooms and laboratories, including selection of equipment, furniture, room layout, and infrastructure and utilities connectivity.
- Ensures the successful and timely resolution of service requests.
- Administers service management, device management, and asset tracking software.
- Provides training and support to staff as required.
- Participates in and co-chairs relevant shared-governance groups.
- Assists with budget development, technology planning, accreditation, and other projects.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with other departments on campus.
- Works collaboratively with instructional faculty and staff to maintain and enhance instructional technology.
- Assumes supervision of Information Technology Services Department in the absence of the director of information technology services department.
- Performs other related work as necessary.
Knowledge of:
- Modern device management software, such as MDM's (e.g. Jamf, Intune); The working methods, procedures, materials, and equipment used in technical support operations;
- Safe working practices;
- Management skills with policy and budget formation including preparation and administration of an annual budget;
- Audiovisual systems for events and instructional spaces;
- Supervision and training techniques;
Demonstrated ability to:
- Perform all relevant duties of the position with only general directions;
- Maintain accurate records and make reports;
- Train and mentor personnel;
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work;
- Perform highly skilled computer and AV work;
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
Working Conditions:
- This is an FLSA exempt position.
- May be required to work a flexible workweek which includes day and evening hours and occasional weekend assignments and may be assigned to any district location.
- Work requires travel to other offices or locations to attend meetings or conduct work.
- Duties are primarily performed in an office environment, at a desk, or at a computer.
- The incumbent will experience interruptions while performing normal duties during the regular workday.
- The incumbent will have contact, in person, via email or on the telephone, with other employees, students, and the general public.
Physical Demands:
- Typically may sit for extended periods of time.
- Operates a computer keyboard.
- Communicates over the telephone, by email, and in person.
- Regularly lifts, carries and/or moves objects weighing up to 20-30 pounds. Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Special Qualification:
A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Education and Experience: Possession of a bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems, or a related field, and five years of increasingly responsible and varied experience in information technology with at least one year of supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certificates Required:
- Possession of a valid and appropriate California driver's license.

The desired start date is December 2026. This is a full-time, 40-hour, classified management, 12-month position.
