Summary: The Care Redesign Clinical Leader is responsible for creating project strategy and execution associated with multiple Care Redesign initiatives across UNC Health Care. Projects will focus on improving patient care, reducing cost, and reducing unwarranted clinical variation. The Care Redesign Leader is responsible for advancing evidence-based clinical practice across UNC Health by: Leading multidisciplinary teams to design and maintain evidence-based medical pathways for clinicians, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, care managers, and other clinical stakeholders. Embedding clinical decision support within Epic through AgileMD to ensure pathways are accessible and actionable at the point of care. Aligning pathway development with UNC Health's strategic priorities and service line goals to support high-quality, consistent care delivery across the system. Care Redesign leaders maintain accountability for a broad portfolio of enterprise quality initiatives across UNC Health service lines, and other highimpact, systemwide strategic priorities. This position will work closely with inpatient hospitalists teams and emergency departments, so experience in these areas is preferred. Responsibilities: 1. Develops the project charter, execution strategy, supports clinical/business case and various high-level stakeholder and project management plans required to achieve desired outcomes. Works with leadership team to ensure project execution strategy aligns with other concurrent initiatives. 2. Communicates with department leadership and key HCS and Entity Leaders to communicate project strategy, direction, changes, and clinical implications. 3. Leads and facilitates project-related discussions between stakeholder groups and utilizes skills and experience to reach desired outcomes, which may include business process designs, data analysis and visualization, project charters and work plans, care paths and order sets. 4. Delivers assigned projects on time and creates and monitors relevant metrics, as well as strategy and business requirements. Maximizes each project's impact on improved outcomes or increasing the value of patient care by decreasing care variation. 5. Analyzes and resolves complex issues. Manages political issues to engage stakeholder groups and manage downstream impact of team's work. 6. Leads identification, facilitation and execution of change management initiatives required to achieve desired project outcomes. 7. Manipulates data and and performs data analysis to develop reports to suport initiatives. 8. Provides both direct and indirect support to clinical leaders and co-workers implementing new tools and techniques to enhance values and outcomes to include creating and teaching educational documents.Other Information Other information: Education Requirements: * If non-clinical: Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Science or Health Care-related field. Master's degree preferred. If clinical: Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Science or Health Care-related field. Master's degree preferred. Licensure/Certification Requirements: * If clinical: clinical education required (degree or certification or license acceptable, eg - RN, NP, PA, PT, etc.) Professional Experience Requirements: * If non-clinical: Professional Experience: If Master's degree: five (5) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation) -OR- If Bachelor's degree: seven (7) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation). Previous healthcare experience required. If clinical: Clinical Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare managerial role, or healthcare educator role -OR- Four (4) years of experience in a clinical setting - for example: inpatient, outpatient, home health or hospice. AND Professional Experience: If Master's degree: three (3) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation) -OR- If Bachelor's degree: five (5) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation). Clinical leadership and healthcare experience required. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:* Healthcare experience required Clinical leadership experience required Proven ability to lead complex project initiatives in a clinical and/or business environment Excellent analytical and communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills Proven ability to excel and achieve results in a team-oriented, matrixed environment Experience leading groups of stakeholders/leaders to achieve quantifiable results Knowledge of project and change management techniques and tools Highly responsive to internal customers Proficient in Office Suite tools. Prefer applicant with experience in areas such as Tableau, EHR reporting (Crystal reports, workbench, etc.) Proficient in reading, documenting in, and teaching use of an electronic health record. Epic preferred. Understands healthcare cost structures at a high level.
