We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Test Engineer and technical leader who connects product design, diagnostics, factory equipment, test software, and production data. You will own Project Amplify's factory test strategy and execution from pre-EVT through stable mass production, turning product requirements into scalable test coverage, qualified equipment, actionable data, and CM/JDM operating ownership. This role requires early ownership of manufacturing test across EVT, DVT, PVT, ramp, and mass production. This engineer will be the client's accountable test interface to the JDM/contract manufacturer, influencing design for testability, defining the manufacturing test architecture, leading build-floor debug, and maturing the solution into a stable production system. The role spans product, process, fixture, software, data, and supplier execution rather than operating as a sustaining-only function.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Test strategy, architecture & DFT

  • Develop the end-to-end manufacturing test strategy across incoming, subassembly, PCBA, functional, calibration, system, final- assembly, and end-of-line test as applicable.
  • Strong manufacturing test fixture design and deployment expertise across ME, EE, and FW interfaces, with the ability to independently assess and resolve CM test-equipment gaps. Define FW requirements for manufacturing test, establish clear acceptance criteria, and drive FW deliverables through test integration, validation, and production readiness.
  • Translate product requirements into station-level coverage, limits, interfaces, instrumentation, diagnostics, data, and failure-isolation needs.
  • Lead DFT reviews with EE, firmware/software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and CM/JDM teams; drive design changes when test access, coverage, cycle time, or debug capability is at risk.

Build readiness, deployment & debug

  • Create phase-specific test plans and readiness criteria; establish owners and need dates for fixtures, equipment, adapters, cabling, golden units, software, calibration, spares, and infrastructure.
  • Deploy and debug test stations during EVT/DVT/PVT builds; lead rapid triage of false failures, escapes, intermittent issues, and line-stopping defects.
  • Isolate failures across product design, components, assembly, firmware/software, fixtures, equipment, and operator execution; drive containment, root cause, corrective action, and verification.
  • Control test-software and fixture configurations, release records, access, backups, change approval, and rollback plans.

Yield, data, capacity & production control

  • Define serial-level traceability, result schemas, failure codes, limit management, retest rules, and data-retention expectations.
  • Own yield and failure-pareto analysis; improve first-pass yield, false-failure rate, retest rate, cycle time, station utilization, and diagnostic effectiveness.
  • Plan test capacity against build and ramp demand; identify bottlenecks, redundancy, staffing, maintenance, calibration, and spare-equipment needs.
  • Qualify production test stations using repeatability/reproducibility and correlation methods appropriate to the measurement system.

CM/JDM technical leadership

  • Act as the client's primary manufacturing-test interface; define client versus CM/JDM ownership, deliverables, acceptance criteria, escalation paths, and sustaining expectations.
  • Review and approve CM/JDM test concepts, fixture designs, schedules, station qualification, factory deployment, and support plans.
  • Build local CM/JDM capability through documented procedures, training, technical reviews, readiness audits, and controlled handoff to sustaining engineering.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Typically 8+ years of manufacturing test, product test, or test-development experience supporting complex hardware or electromechanical products.
  • Demonstrated ownership from engineering prototypes through EVT/DVT/PVT, ramp, and mass production.
  • Strong experience with functional/system test, fixtures, instrumentation, automation, test software, diagnostics, calibration, traceability, and production data.
  • Hands-on ability to debug across hardware, firmware/software, manufacturing process, fixtures, equipment, and operator execution.
  • Experience working directly with CM, ODM, or JDM partners and supporting factory builds, qualification, and production ramp.
  • Ability to convert technical ambiguity into clear requirements, decisions, owners, and executable recovery plans.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with connected, embedded, wearable, robotics, consumer-electronics, or other complex electromechanical products.
  • Familiarity with automated test architectures, GR&R/correlation methods, statistical yield analysis, and design-for-testability.
  • Experience transferring development-owned test systems into factory sustaining ownership across global manufacturing sites.
