The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Technician B will be an integral member of the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) Biobank team, supporting the processing and storage of human biological samples collected from transplant study participants. Under the direct supervision of the Biobank Director, the Technician B will be responsible for sample processing, data entry, inventory control, equipment maintenance, and contributing to Biobank financial operations. This role offers opportunities for professional growth within the department. Ideal candidates possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in basic laboratory techniques.

Responsibilities



  • Process and store human biological samples according to established protocols.
  • Accurately record sample information in the Biobank database.
  • Manage Biobank inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with Biobank billing procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team, and manage time effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management software.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous laboratory experience


Other Requirements



  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • participation in the medical surveillance program
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
