Position Summary
This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.

The Workforce and Economic Development Division ( WED) of Metropolitan Community College is the leader in innovative workforce solutions and community enrichment. We partner to first develop our community in order to develop it economically for the growth of the Kansas City metro's citizens; families, businesses, industry, organizations, and associations.

As a phlebotomy instructor in MCC's Phlebotomy Program you will prepare students to become a phlebotomy technician in the healthcare profession who collects and transports specimens such as blood and urine samples to the medical laboratory for medical testing, which aids the physician in diagnosis and treatment monitoring. As an essential partner of MCC you will teach curriculum that aligns with the American Society for Clinical Pathology ( ASCP) national phlebotomy certifications that include but not limited to the following:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Safety and infection control
  • Blood collection procedures & standards of practice
  • Quality assurance
  • Legal issues
  • Professionalism and integrity.



Minimal Qualifications
Preferred:

  • Associate's degree


Required:
  • Current certification in one of the following:

    • Phlebotomy certification
    • Clinical laboratory certification


Alternative Qualification in one of the following:

  • Sixty (60) college credit hours from an accredited institution
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 30 college credit hours and three (3) years of relevant teaching experience.
