Production Manager

Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Production Manager is responsible for day to day operations and troubleshooting of the plant. The production technicians may report to the production manager. The position is a developmental position leading to plant management at this or another Air Liquide facility.

Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance

  • Provide visible HSE leadership to site technicians and actively champion the LIVES system.

  • Meet or exceed company safety standards.

  • Support and comply with all health, safety, and environmental procedures as directed by local and corporate personnel and safety departments.

  • Support and comply with all process safety management and risk management plan practices (EIS, PSM, MOC, etc)

  • Maintain required regulatory documentation (ISO documentation, PSM, RMP, MOC, etc)

  • Support, coordinate and manage the operating permit reporting, monitoring, and renewal requirements to insure compliance with federal, state and local rules and regulations.

  • Provide all regulatory training and maintain documentation of training of the production technicians.

  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated and corrective actions are completed.

  • Keep plant hazard analysis current and displays thorough knowledge of possible hazards and associated safeguards.

Operates the Plant Safely, Reliably, and Efficiently

  • Perform process troubleshooting.

  • Own Key Operating Documents. Maintain updated red-lines at all times. Display detailed understanding of content and significance of each document.

  • Ensure GT's are understood and followed by the plant staff.

  • Ensure operating procedures are followed and updated as needed.

  • Ensure operating rounds are completed each shift consistently and actions are taken as required.

  • Make plant and process decisions to meet plant production needs.

  • Identify and recommend process changes to improve plant HSE, reliability and efficiency

  • Develop capital project scope, cost, and schedule as assigned

  • Partner with the Reliability Center to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to eliminate catastrophic failures and unplanned maintenance.

  • Set and maintain high housekeeping standards.

  • Implement plant projects, as required, to improve plant HSE, reliability and efficiency.

  • Acts as plant manager during their absence.

  • Complete assigned action items from audits and other sources on time.

  • Ensure shift reports are sent out each shift and are accurate.

  • Ensure shift orders are completed for each shift.

  • Ensure shift turnovers are completed effectively.

Cost and Budget

  • Understand, monitor, and optimize operating costs within authorized budget.

  • Assist in developing plant budget needs

  • Develop cost and economic justification for capital projects

  • Execute capital projects within time and budget requirements

  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs within delegated authorization.

  • Participate in the Evergreen Capital Planning Process.

  • Control overtime within established limits.

  • Continuously monitor and improve efficiency and availability.

  • Utilize national purchasing agreements and frame agreements.

Develops and Leads People

  • Work to achieve our goal of "Zero Accidents" by taking a leadership role in safety.

  • Assist with training new technicians

  • Assist in developing individual development plans of direct reports annually and provide training and coaching to improve performance.

  • Provide candid constructive input to management decisions and actively supports those decisions.

  • Insist on adherence to administrative and operational policies and procedures.

  • Complete Personal Development System goals as defined in annual review.

  • Willing to relocate for promotional opportunity

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree preferred plus 5-7 years process industry experience.Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours and shift work as business needs dictate

  • On call nights, weekends and holidays as required

  • Occasional travel - typically 3 to 4 trips per year

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $115,000 - $145,000 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Air Liquide considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
