Job Summary: The Assistant Program Director supports the mission by assisting the Program Director in the overall management responsibility for TOB, a psychiatric rehabilitation program for adults.

This is an exempt position.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm onsite in Dorchester MA

Essential Functions of the Position



  • Inspire and motivate staff in pursuit of program mission;
  • Exemplify high ethical standards and dedication in carrying out duties in a manner that supports the recovery and empowerment of Clubhouse members, and ensures those standards are reflected in performance of program staff;
  • In partnership with Program Director provide leadership, direction, and supervision to program staff;
  • Assume overall responsibility for TOB's daily operation in Program Director's absence;
  • Ensure that members' rights are fully respected, and that they are consistently treated respectfully, in a way that enhances their personal control over services provided by the program on their behalf, and that supports members' taking control and responsibility for their own recovery;
  • Maintain good working relationships and communication with representatives of funding sources, and collaborating programs both within and outside of Bay Cove Human Services;
  • In partnership with Program Director screen and oversee hiring of new staff, supervision, and holding staff accountable in accordance with Bay Cove Human Services Personnel Policies;
  • Function as key staff member for assigned members, including supporting members' community participation, completing Assessments, Action Plans, Service notes and other documentation as required by the program and the Department of Mental Health;
  • Review records as needed, enter necessary data and review progress in accordance with outcome reporting requirements and quarterly audits;
  • Maintain contact with members' providers including attending treatment team meetings and providing advocacy;
  • Complete daily billing tracking sheet;
  • Provide job coaching support for members involved in all types of employment;
  • Facilitate activity and group discussion; and
  • Assist the Program Director in seeking out, preparing and submitting grant and contract funding proposals to federal and state funding agencies in order to maintain the financial viability of services.


Requirements for the position



  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Services.
  • Three years' experience in a mental health or rehabilitation setting, at least one year of which must be in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, philosophy and practice of psycho-social rehabilitation. Experience working in a Clubhouse International certified Clubhouse preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a culturally diverse population of members, other providers, family, and community partners.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate management, supervision, and teaching ability.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
