POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Lead Instructor for our training facility in Upper Marlboro, MD.

Pay: $78,000

JOB DUTIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.



  • Supervise the daily operations of their shifts and staffs
  • Provide training guidance to new instructors
  • Evaluate the progress of all new and currently assigned instructors and provide mentoring and support to assist them in meeting Corporate, NCRTC and contract training goals
  • Review all reports of instructor non-compliance and adherence to operational procedure
  • Determine what corrective measures are appropriate and report the findings to Senior Management for review and final determination
  • Assign the appropriate instructor to train students in disciplines that are required to meet contractual requirements
  • Review the team schedules to ensure proper instructor to student ratio and to allocate the appropriate resources to the instructors to accomplish the training mission
  • Conduct unannounced visits to active classes to evaluate the instruction that is being conducted and provide feedback to the instructor on the results of the evaluation
  • Work with Senior Management to create opportunities for professional growth for the instructional staff to include in-house instructor development classes and off-site credentialing or certification classes
  • Provides instruction for Firearms and Tactics courses utilizing prescribed curriculum
  • Updates course curriculum as directed by Senior Management
  • Lead Instructs/Assistant Instructor for all Core Curriculum Courses
  • Lead Instructor/Assistant Instructor for all Contracted Courses
  • Teaches customized training courses
  • Conducts mobile training
  • Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment
  • Evaluates the abilities of individual participants to determine suitable corrective or remedial training
  • Maintains overall safety and organization of the training environment
  • Ensures safety of students. Communicates and oversees compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Ensures accountability for all training equipment
  • Identifies in a timely manner training requirements needed to maintain required certifications and company standards, and completes all required continuing education and refresher training programs
  • Completes any additional training and/or certifications required by the government or the contract


REQUIREMENTS



  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in a teaching environment
  • Ten years of practical experience in Law Enforcement, Military, and/or Security is required
  • Completion of US Military/Law Enforcement (DCJS or POST) Course or equivalent years of experience in tactical instruction techniques required
  • Must pass background investigation, physical, drug and psychological screening, and have no legal disqualifiers to possess firearms
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment


PHYSICAL CONDITIONS



  • Work is typically based in an office environment and subject to frequent interruptions
  • May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday
