Position Summary

The SBA Credit Analyst's primary focus is to assist in providing accurate, timely, and succinct credit underwriting to ensure compliance with SBA loan regulations. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the evaluation and underwriting of SBA loan applications to determine creditworthiness and compliance.
  • Reviews and analyzes all customer financial information, recognizing trends that may impact repayment to ensure sound credit decisions are made.
  • Interview borrower(s) in regard to loan request.
  • Documents the detail and requirements of loan decisions, including conditions to close.
  • Works with the Closing team for a smooth hand-off of the borrower to the next level in the SBA Process (submission and closing). If needed, assist in screen-out responses, credit addendums, and memos to the file.
  • Successfully communicate with SBA via eTran to obtain a correct SBA Loan Authorization for each transaction.
  • Maintains knowledge of Busey lending policies, risk rating requirements and compliance standards and gain a working knowledge of the SBA's SOP.
  • Assist with Portfolio Management duties such as: monitoring monthly borrowing base reports
Education & Experience

Knowledge of:

  • Experience with and working knowledge of the current SBA SOP
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to:

  • Multi-task and work independently
  • Analyze and solve problems
  • Take independent action within established guidelines and develop new procedures and approaches when needed
  • Perform duties under frequent time pressures

Education and Training:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Business or Finance.
  • Requires 2-4 years of Commercial C&I experience and/or SBA experience.
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office.
